A Southwest Nutcracker

the Tucson Symphony Orchestra

Tucson Convention Center Music Hall

Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 2:00 & 7:30 pm
Sunday, December 15, 2019 at 2:00 pm

This original, full-length classical ballet translates the traditional Nutcracker to Tucson in the 1880s, complete with coyotes, cavalry, and rattlesnakes.  The live orchestra, lovely costumes and beautiful, professionally designed sets – combined with the stunning dancing – all make for a holiday tradition that will be enjoyed by the entire family.

Thank you for coming – see you in December 2020!

The Tortoise and the Jackrabbit

La Bayadère Act III

Tucson Convention Center Leo Rich Theatre

Saturday, April 18, 2020 at 2:00 & 7:30 pm

Sunday, April 19, 2020 at 2:00 pm

Children and adults alike will enjoy TRB’s fun adaptation of Susan Lowell’s irresistible tale The Tortoise and the Jackrabbit. Tortoise, living comfortably in her home on Slow Lane, awakens one morning feeling good and challenges cocky Jackrabbit to a race. Patiently bumping her way through the desert landscape, Tortoise heads for the finish line as Jackrabbit cheerfully skips–and sleeps. Roadrunner, Tarantula, Gila Monster and even a Javelina or three cheer them on.

The performance will also include La Bayadère Act III, the romantic vision scene. This elegant dream of lovers reunited in a paradise in the Himalayas is one of the most celebrated works of choreographer Marius Petipa. The program will be rounded out by a selection of original contemporary and classical ballet works.
