Spring Spectacular

featuring Giselle Act II

Available through May 1, 2021

Tucson Regional Ballet was back in the TCC Leo Rich Theater on Saturday, April 17 to record our Spring Spectacular. This performance features a socially-distanced all-woman adaptation of Giselle Act II and a number of classical and contemporary works. You are invited to view the 2-hour performance online! View the program here!

Choreographed by Marius Petipa to a score by Adolphe Adam, the ballet Giselle tells a story of star-crossed love that endures beyond the grave. In a time when partnering is unwise, Tucson Regional Ballet’s all-woman production of the unearthly Act II has been restaged for appropriate social distancing in rehearsal and performance, preserving┬áthe haunting traditional corps de ballet choreography along with the spectacular solos, all performed by TRB’s budding ballerinas.

We are thrilled to have welcomed back TRB alumna Brittany DeGrofft, current dancer with American Ballet Theatre, as guest repetiteur and instructor, sharing her own artistry and experience with our dancers! As a preview, videos of our dancers in rehearsal are available on our Instagram and our Facebook Page!

Giselle Act II will be accompanied by a selection of brand new, original classical and contemporary ballet works from Artistic Director Aaron Smith, Rehearsal Director Alexis Salmen, and TRB’s Emerging Choreographers, as well as a revival of Stacey Morgan’s award-winning 2004 work All That Jazz.

Your $10 virtual ticket purchase entitles you to view the premiere release of this production on Youtube beginning at 6:00 pm on Sunday, April 18. The online video will include all repertory pieces and two presentations of Giselle featuring different soloists in the roles of Giselle, Myrta, Zulma, and Moyna. This video will be available to you through 11:59 pm on Sunday, May 2 and may be viewed as many times as you wish during that period. The video is now live and the video link will be emailed to you as soon as possible following your purchase. (Please know that all orders are processed manually between the hours of 10:00 am and 10:00 pm; orders received overnight will receive their link the following morning. Please allow )
